made by ME: speckles of gold skirt.

I'm adding a new category to the blog, called made by ME, where I'll be sharing my designs which I've been able to make at school!  This is my first creation, the speckles of gold skirt.  I am so pleased with how it turned out, I absolutely love it!
Back story behind the making of this skirt:  I had seen this gorgeous, sheer, black fabric at Joanns a few times and absolutely loved it, but didn't know what I could use it for. I finally bought it after drooling over it multiple times, still not knowing what to create with it.  A few days later, my teacher told us our next project was to make a skirt. My original design was to make a peplum skirt, as you can see in my sketchbook below, but I didn't like how it was turning out. I had made the under skirt you see here from a pattern and was trying to think of other ways to design the skirt.  Then I remembered I had bought this gorgeous fabric, so I used it as an overlay over the original skirt!
Below, you can see a close up of the fabric!
